Rhino

 Whenever we talk about strength we generally talk about Tiger, Lion or Elephant. Between Lion and Tiger I always liked Tiger.In childhood also in some cartoon Tiger is shown as villain, I don't like that. If fight between Tiger and Lion happens I always be on the side of Tiger.

And between Tiger and Elephant. Obviously Elephant! Elephant has been a good imagery for India. But amidst all this we can see neglect  of one of the most powerful animal - rhinoceros , to avoid any spelling mistakes we call it rhino 🤗

Many people call obese people as ' Genda( गेंडा) ' an Indian name for  Rhino.But it is unjust, it's rhino's original built he / she is not obese and can run fairly well. Although I have no experience of Rhino in hot pursuit of me , but heard that in such situation you should run criss-cross or zigzag manner. But I found no reason why Rhino will get upset with anybody of us. He/she eats peacefully without disturbing anybody. But it is said that he don't like disturbance. So we have to curb our temptation from seeing it from close . 

But have you ever seen strongest of animals disturbing Rhino. Maybe those of us , having  Discovery ( or National Geographic) as our 'back-channel' can tell more.  Still why don't anybody say - hey I am Rhino ! We can see plenty of tigers on social media :) ( I don't know what people achieve by calling themselves Tiger :-) ). If we count these e- Tigers ( like paper Tigers) and append it to recent counting happened we will have millions of Tigers :-).

 So Rhino also exhibits enormous strength we neglect it , but poachers don't neglect them. Specially horn of One horned Rhino is in high demand in China and why ? No wonder , Dangal ( Let's Wrestle..)became superhit movie there ( It is believed that consumption of this horn bring you male offspring - it's a superstition).  And this neglect or being so much in our own cocoon is costing us a species ( I fear not just one). Recently we lost one of the last Rhino of one variant of Rhino.And  now also five variants are under threat. We need to understand its direct relation to our existence.  How many species will you let die? How many species will you kill? Maybe we deserve hot pursuit by Rhino :)

Since once in a while this demand for making cow a national animal steps up . A few words. We can umderstand the bond we attach to cow and bulls as an agrarian society, especially rural people. Urban ( naxal!) will never understand that. For instance we know utility of cow dung for different activities ( fertilizers, cleaning शेणसडा, as a protective cover to walls [मातीचे घरं सारवणे]). In a way village people are quite liberal by tradition which Urban people fail to understand  and will only theorize Marx but will have no connect  to common rural people while engaging in calling names to traditional practices. Having said that I still found this demand of making cow as our National Animal. Even while agreeing it's importance  Cow is a domesticated animal. And even though its milk can strengthen you , in common parlance word cow is not used for strength. So if you really want to change National Animal why not Rhino :)  You know we have seals from ancient times depicting Rhino and similar species in appearance. 

 We have Tiger as our National Animal - Wild  and Ferocious!
