On 11 July 1987 we achieved the feat of being 5 billion of us and so simce 1989 UNDP started celebrating World Population Day.
Our population is now above 7 billion .But at the same time population of many other species is threatened by us and that affects quality of life on the Earth. Recently 'Sudan' the last North White Rhino. died. We have science and technology to bring back extinct species but it is at rudimentary level as of now and ethical questions are also involved.
Then we need economic development. A lot of distractions from rituals , yes some of them necessary for good mental state , but if we understand eseence of religion's message - work sincerely physically, mentally ,spiritually and if you observe if you do that you are in better position economically as well.
Now when you are not well economically you think you need more persons to help you.And generally without involvement nobody helps. So we create our replica. But individuals born certainly help us , but you need to take care of them and they have their own individuality so when they grown up they have other priorities as well. And when you have more replicas you need to invest a lot more and that can put strain on you. Again women are not even asked about their choices.
There are a few contraversial statements by some individuals to reproduce more. But it is reaction to existing pattern. In India in last decade birth rate of each community have shown decline. But as birth rates in Muslim were higher , so even after decline it remains high in comparison to other communities. Also literacy is less and poverty is more and so propensity to seek helping hands is more. And bone of contention is that while every other communities including other minorities as well decreased only share of Muslim population increased by approximately 1 percent in total .All other communities show decline in percentage terms.
Also Muslims are not ready for uniform civil code. So religious considerations are also involved in public psyche of Muslim population. And also decline in Hindu population by a percent that leads to some concern. Love jihad is one controversial issue in this setting.
So solution is family planning and implementation of uniform civil code is not against Muslims. All other communities have scriptures but they have accepted constitution as well.Of course Indian Muslims also accepted the same but in their psyche many still believe in Shariat rule and Darool ulum , still it is commendable how Indian Muslims keep ISIS at bay. But how when youth in the same family gets radicalized and parents have no idea? Internet. And why I am talking about Muslims, I don't hate them. But see in every other community a common man can easily question religious authorities or men ( mostly) who have positions of influence but not so much or less frequent in Muslim community. And those who talk of reform in them are minority within minority.So Muslim needs to be more secular and less communal, unity is different from being communal. There are few experiences I have but I will not mention them (unlike intellectuals who want to defame Hindus and Hinduism )-as why generalize some stray incidents, some individuals are good and some bad in each community. So we should always strive for harmony.
And learn about family planning irrespective of any differences.As Earth's carrying capacity is limited and we should have quality life for our next generation, so 'Less is More 'here. And we should strive to be more responsible i.e eco-friendly so that populations of other species survive. As nature is about Interdependence....harmony again.
