Our quest for seeking truth led to origin of religion. Truth seekers are known to be sages. But that should not stop next generations to seek it further ( Remember Galileo :) ). If this is understood we would be quite liberal. But if we observe history liberal and conservative forces were always there, may be number of proponents of each one vary time to time.
Also there can be number of associations to present day scientific discoveries. That explains rationality is not so new a thing. Also how do you define science? Some of the principles known to be universal were existed even in the past. And as past generations in the East have sustainable ways of living, practicing meditation ,were closer to nature and have close scrutiny of these principles. And yet so much time passed , much have not been preserved owing to historical reasons. So In India many inventions were happened before they were introduced to Europe and some of them have documentary proofs, we are not dealing with hollow claims. Due to cultural and language differences terminology may differ for example Indians have fair idea about hormones (idea of rasas), of course may be not as much as today we have, there is no point in denying that West have contributed heavily in last few centuries.
And religion is about duty in those times and so beacme sacred and all pervasive. So contribution in philosophy, astronomy, mathematics , sciences are not seen as different from religious duty of scholars. So ancient things have this prism of religion. So if we deny religion we lose a lot of heritage. Also there is pattern that we accept these practices as humanity but don't give credit to religion. And here is hypocrisy of West , they will worship their symbols , call their epics as history but deny the same for Eastern religions. And recently number of International NGOs from West who only have some pretext for proselytizing activities have been cut short by Indian Union Government. And they were found lobbying between Modi-Trump meeting in the recent past.The point is here in India we have right to propogate every religion but is it only for Abrahmic religions? And if these NGOs were honest why then show off engaging in other activities and quietly engage in conversion.Basic premise if you subscribe to particular religion you are lesser is faulty and it is very antithesis of equality and human rights. India bans forceful conversions whether using force or money. Voluntary ones that follow free choice of peraons are not banned.
So why oppose Gharwapsi if it is not forceful ? Does Hindus have no right to propogate? Prominent socialogist state that tribals were basically following animism and later subscribe to Hinduism.Okay. But what is wrong with this is that so called intellectuals project this as kind of negative thing.Then how come tribals following in the North East initially following animism when converted to Christianity is not regressive?
And also observe that in Europe a lot of war happened over religion in medieval times .And so many countries have either state religion or a dominant population of one or other sect of christianity( With Turkey being the exception) and they are not apologetic about there religion. Here in India opportune intellectual mix undercurrents of casteism with socialism, communism that can explain self denial mode of some Hindus. But you need to understand speaking about our own religion is not against tenets of secularism as the word connotes in India ( respect of all religions ). Even if we dissolve caste system power structure would not change immediately that is individuals in power remain same more or less. So subscribing to atrocity literature by competing groups cannot achieve anything except violent skirmishes. Of course manipulations and superiority complex of dominant groups can be tackled but atrocity literature is only about being pawn in the game of external powers.
I am not against Marx, but against Marxists (even not against honest among them)they have become rigid.
For instance knowledge about religion will not lead to Bhagavikaran.Although I like the term .But in this context term is used negatively so I also don't like when it is used in that sense.Knowledge of religion will liberate individuals . As automatically monopoly of some sections over religious power structure will weaken or power will be shared. And nobody will cheat , or take advantage of superstition.
