Long Drive

So I promised you we will talk about travel at length...so here we have long drive...

When  I first stay outside my district for education , we used to feel naturally a bonhomie or feeling of brotherhood , friendliness , rapport etc with fellows who belonged to our district. And When we were in Vidarbha , almost instantenously a kind of informal association or gang of guys from Marathwada region. When I first travelled outside my state , An Armyperson from Maharashtra happily asked us about our whereabouts, is there any problem? If it is I am here to help you .. that sort of dialogue. And that commondo also hired cycle ( bicycle) rickshaw  for us and warned the driver to charge reasonably. But that is different matter we paid more , as distance we travelled was very very long and that driver due to fear was not charging more. Those were times drivers used to be humble...of course once in a while we may now also have pleasant surprises.

Beacause it is long drive further stretch a little bit. We have travelled in cycle rickshaw or simply rickshaw , auto rickshaw to be referred as auto , even now this terminology is valid at places like Nagpur where we have both auto and rickshaw( cyclewali). During  my childhood at Latur we also had rickshaws there back then, we had travelled from GanjGolai to Nanded naka several times.

The point here is obvious when we travel outside we feel that feeling of unity and brotherhood from our own region transcending all sorts of identities, prejudices if any.Certainly travelling improves our outlook. And that's why from where we reached the point that we should not cross the sea. Unqualified notions of 'purity' ...that may be reason....and these notions even now in different form are dangerously dividing us.

And I do not understand how can after travelling so much when we return at our home, many of us still follow sectarian interests. Of course world has to move ahead collectively, if one pulls or pushes back there are ripples . But how can be we more responsive and less reactive. Of course in certain cases reaction is necessary for existence.

When I travel back in time through memory ( no time machine yet :)...you can recognize  ...memory ...as kind of time machine....brain researchers and those studying inter-disciplinary matters- is this clue leading somewhere?). .I remember how shocked I am even after basic schooling how can somebody still be casteist or how someone support his case that he will take handsome dowry ( and whatever with salary) and there are many more things which I haven't mentioned here. May be I was naive ,and now a little less naive. How come you have different kind of teachings for a child and for an adult, why should we compromise basic universally ( I am not talking about transient rules that change as per the context, time and place) valid moral tenets? To me that sort of compromise and terminology in justification is all rubbish. And we can understand you can err, but once you know you have to correct it ( how many of you.....yes you, you...and you there in the corner. .... who blame situations or parents actually returned dowry :))

It's long drive, but don't sleep !

We have travelled on different topics. Let's get back to our journey. So travel can be by foot, personal vehicle, public transport, Railways, Aeroplanes, Boats, Yacht etc. Our forefathers and in rural are many of us travel by foot. There is वारी in Maharashtra each year.Atheist failed to understand how many religious programs and festivities are liberating experiences , liberating from day to day exigencies.  And people dancing on the Bhajans are not mad,you dance on filmy songs which are even obscene , we Bhakts dance on devotional songs. We celebrate our love for God.Atheists can recognize this as : That they are celebrating love for notion of God. Here celebration of love is the central theme, object may vary.Hence we have Meerabai, I hope you understand this essence if you choose to do so.And in traditional societies there are restrictions through norms, due to patriarchy men are not serious about them , they are only serious about women following the norms. So practice of Bhakti is quite liberating for women, especially when spirit is that men and women equally are children of God.

And observe that when facilities of mobility are less evolved people went on pilgrimage on foot, even now maybe in less severe manner this practice continues. Worship places like temples used to be at the mountain top or at remote places. So there is good amount of exertion ,but music and dialogue between pilgrims did not let it feel so.  But exertion is there and that is why there is prasad. Have you ever given thought to that why Prasad is always sweet and not any of the other five taste? As sugar reinvigorate our energy. Many of our practices are not just there ...because they are there..I am always fascinated by how our forefathers way back think of socio-psychological and even physiological aspects as per the resources available then. Don't you?

Then we have bicycle ...but hey...we will directly switch to trains now :-). There are many funny stories of train in my life....to give a glimpse ...one old couple mistook me for TT... madness of jumping from the express train... Although I had travelled by train before...but those were once in a while chances. So I am not much familiar with train travel and so the jump! ( Broken both my knees ...but that's usual for me while playing Cricket or Kabaddi, even broken knees before physical test..so I have played lots of semifinals..let it be :) त्यामुळे बीडला रेल्वे आलीच पाहिजे...now this you may feel my madness on social media...but let me explain my stand .And it requires special article for that. Especially why I am in hurry to have trains in Beed. Now that we reached some point in our long drive. We will return after some rest. And while returning I will tell you my experiences with train and why बीडला रेल्वे आलीच पाहिजे!
