I am about to write ..Does anybody love Gandhiji? But to break the monotony we will digress to another topic .
So what is good and what is bad ? They are relative terms. Even then we always have fair idea about what it exactly is.Maybe conditioning affects our own notions , also different times, different context change things a bit .But many of the things our Mind knows what exactly is good or bad.
And it is our common complaint that situation is getting worse and worse. And there are no good people today surrounding us.All good acts are rare nowadays.....etc. But it is a fallacy.
To begin with just look into the past , even if many of us have no inclination to read history , we certainly heard stories from the past. So by mere observation you may acknowledge that we have improved a lot. There is no slavery today. Even if it is in disguised form ....that in itself means it has no popular approval.
Then again everyone wants to be good or at least if he/she cannot ...then at least tries to project that he/she is good individual. ( One exception maybe 'bad is cool' syndrome in collegiate students...a temporary phenomena). Don't you observe politicians :)..
And sometimes we become really bad. And believe that there is no point of return. Here I used word we believe and not 'we cannot'. Whatever difficult situations may exist it is all about choices we make.Of course some situation may warrant that choices are lesser than usual. But it is about our brain conditioning as well. If we don't use it much , choices always be less. Of course we are not diacussing here 'problems of plenty '.
There are at least two aspects 1. fear of consequences 2. image formed in others' opinion---- that sets up 'point of no return'. But you can see those Naxalites surrendered have at least overcome their fear.
Image is very peculiar thing. We also have our own self image- that also creates funny problems.Somebody who believes that he/she is very good person may be a very crooked person. That happens life experiences change a person so drastically at times without person's knowledge. Of course this clearly indicate that there is always possibility to appeal positivity within the concerned person .Basically it is about emotional intelligence in today's terminology ( or ancient wisdom that six types of feelings to be contained - काम, क्रोध,मोह,लोभ,मद, मत्सर). And it is easy to fall, but not too difficult to get up again!
Let's see one example. Veerappan , a dreaded chandan ( sandal) smuggler he knew he was bad. But he believed he had reached point of no return. Two things compelled him to be so , one was that this course suited him , other - society wouldn't accept him in another form and some of whom - mesmerized by fear.
But he knew about life and wanted his offspring not to be like him even if it can suit her to earn money from Sandal smuggled. And so he sent her to school. With all it's problems education is certainly thought to produce good individuals.
Education is part of solution. So it will be interesting to observe and solve problems within education.
And this is becoming lengthy so we will have part 2. Stay tuned, Stay POSITIVE!
