Fundamenatal Duties : Funda for harmony

Indian Union Government have set up Rajiv Gauba committee to look into ' mob lynching' incidents. We will get acknowledged about it's recommendations in about four weeks. But we as citizen also have responsibility to follow our fundamental duties.
As these are implicit to our way of life and can be traced in other articles of constitution, constituent assembly might not thought about it's inclusion separately.  Anyway we have it through courtesy of 42nd constitutional amendment.
In brief our Fundamental duties include respecting constitution, National Symbols, ideals of our freedom struggle and constitution and it's institution. To serve  Nation to defend it's Sovereignty, Unity and Integrity of India. To promote harmony transcending all identities including gender, so to respect women is explicitly mentioned.  To preserve our rich heritage of composite culture, also our natural environment  and to be compassionate to living creatures is it's natural corollary. To develop scientific temper, humanism, the spirit of inquiry and reform. This logically leads to safeguard public property and to abjure (renounce) violence. And pursuit of excellence in all walks of life. We can observe how well it concludes with ' pursuit of excellence' ( to strive towards excellence in all spheres of  individual and collective activity  so that the nation constantly rises to higher levels of endeavour and achievement).
86th amendment further added a duty to follow as a parent  to ensure education of children between age group 6-14  years as the case may be.

Now mobs have not much known about these.  There are indivials and organizations working to spread the word about constitution. One of my friend written a book (गीत संविधान in Marathi language)in poetic /song way about constitution. Of course that may be targeted for students but is certainly useful for anybody( citizens).  We need more such initiatives in all Indian languages. We need audio-visual programmes as a lot of people may not be inclined to read.
Also people need to stay away from social media - self regulation. As per our preferences we can completely stop or use it sparingly, use it for required things , entertainment one can found outside internet also. Especially stay away from groups that promote sectarian identities( your caste group etc.) as such groups raise your ego and promote hatred for other communities. But would you listen this? Think more now, such groups on facebook started as closed group that they know in their hearts what we are sharing is not right and can be heavily criticized if group remains open. Then gradually people realized 'only I have not such misgivings, there are more people like me'.Then he and sometimes she also started spreading hate. Even praising only your caste is tantamount to spread hate as reactions are bound to come in one way or other way .Why can't we keep our personal matters to ourselves especially when we don't know much ( we think we know much :)).
And danger part is that now with whatsapp and what not  these groups are acting as whips criticizing individual activities. Why you want to limit your activity, exit that group if it restricts you. Concept of whip in parliament should also be limited for special occasions like a few motions , otherwise individual MP should be able to judge issues independently, express opinions and vote accordingly, just a passing reference but it's necessary to maintain balnace in individual and social spheres as whatever happens up the order have it's reflections on massess too.

So you will find some moderately biased individuals talking in private that some other individuals got so far in casteism, communalism. Your mute support have led them to get emboldened. Minimize your biases if you can. And those who perpetuate biases always have excuses to criticize objectivity and truth and it's real versions.

We are rule bound society. You can observe your family also have some rules. Or you may heard from your mothers don't eat A after you have eaten B..like these.Traditionally they inherited through generations  some of them are good for health, some are beliefs - you just follow as there is no harm in doing so whatsoever. Some beliefs and rules accordingly are sacred to your family and you follow it dutifully. Same way sanctity of constitution and how it is beneficial should reach masses. One way is it's inclusion in education ( Like NCERT books have preamble or fundamental duties in the beginning in the textbooks all state textbooks should have) and that is not enough. Civics should be full fledged subject. But education is not just schooling , environment at home also teaches a child many things , so let's improve our surrounding. And constitution with it's complex language even difficult to interpret for experts especially cases involving conflicting claims. Therefore there should be more literature on it's different aspects, parts on par with religious literature we have. Each of fundamental duty needed much more contemplation and discussion , in my individual capacity we would discuss it in next articles.

Stay tuned , stay positive!
